Course enrollment and visibility

The different ways to register for a course are now divided into two different setting options that can be flexibly combined:

Visibility and self-enrollment

Visibility defines who can view the course tile and the course info page. Self-enrollment regulates how participants can be added to courses.

1. Course visibility

The visibility settings determine who can view the course tile and course info page. Visibility is divided into three different functions.

  • Publicly accessible
  • Members of this academy
  • Participants and selected groups

You can set the visibility in the course options.

2. Self-enrollment

Self-enrollment is an option that allows individuals to enroll themselves for (visible) courses, if necessary. You can choose from four different requirements, ranging from open to strictly controlled.

  • Allowed (without restrictions)
  • Approval required
  • Payment
  • By invitation only

You can adjust the enrollment options in the course options.

A manual invitation to the course remains possible for any of these combinations. There are further combinations in addition to the previously listed options. Here we present some possible application examples.

  • Selected groups. This can be used to limit visibility within the academy.
  • Only offer paid courses within the academy. For example, you can provide special offers for existing customers.
  • Approval required, only offer courses within the academy. This setting gives you the option to prevent members from self-enrolling without approval while simultaneously ensuring that the course is not publicly visible.
  • Show courses but do not offer self-enrollment. This combination is possible both within the academy and for publicly visible courses. The course tiles and the info page are visible here for authorized persons, but enrollment is not possible.
